Asparagus and Hollandaise - a homegrown lunch

Ooh what a lovely lunch I have just eaten.  Egg from the chooks, laid this morning. Hollandaise made from butter and another chook egg. Oh it was delicious.

Asparagus from the garden (yes in spite of the patch being years old and me nurturing it and adding more plants I just can't seem to grow much - so this is the sum total of the stuff from my garden bed).

  1. Asparagus for lunch! Oh, that sounds divinely, nourishingly decadent. And eggs from the chooks? Is this a term of endearment for chickens? Or do you have some exotic egg-laying game other than chickens in your backyard? Actually, I read recently that chicken is plural and chick is singular, and not just for the babies. My aunt likes to call her chickens chick-a-dees. I call mine...chickens. (= Homegrown eggs though...mmm. Lovely.

    1. How interesting - I am now telling all my family about the plural or singular. Not exotic, our family have always called them the chooks!

  2. Yum! Must get you to give me a run down on making my own hollandaise as I don't have much success with it. :) x

  3. I'm not a big fan of runny yolks Karen but yours still looks pretty good too! LOL

    1. Oh Anne, you are missing divineness (just a word I made up), there is nothing like a fresh and runny egg.

A gorgeous break in Rarotonga

Woo hoo, A holiday with no kids for 11 days. Bliss, relaxing and warm! BTW it was an early 20th wedding anniversary present to ourselves....
