Scrappy zip boxy pouch

   Zip pouch, patchwork
Sometime in my surgery and recovery I have lost my makeup purse. I know that when packing for the hospital I decided to put it in a safe place as I would not need it till I went back to work. I am good at safe places so I still cannot find it, it is that safe! So I raided my scrap bag.
I decided to quilt it prior to assembly. I follow a lovely lady called Tiina on her blog Tilkunviilaaja. She makes the most amazing zip pouches with incredible quilting. I am trying to expand my quilting repertoire so decided to tightly quilt it.
A few swirls and some wave like patterns and I was ready to make it into a box pouch.
Pleased with the little project and having it completed an refilled.

Sewing Kit for my son

Well with Eli being really excited about quilting and using the sewing machine, I knew what he needed for his birthday. He had asked me to make a lanyard like the one I use with my snips on the end. So I have sewed him a little boxed zip pouch with his name on it. I used the material that he used on his quilt.

Then I sewed a Lanyard out of the same material and just made it shorter than mine. Added a pin cushion and pins, a tape measure, quick unpick and it is now all wrapped up for his birthday.

box zip pouchEli has never particularly focussed on his birthday but this year he has been counting down since 61 days before. So I had to add a photo of his countdown. I am a bit worried that his birthday will not live up to his expectations. So I am planning lots of little envelopes to appear on the hour with different things to do next (like a sort of day long treasure hunt).

In later years I will not be able to post before a birthday. But thankfully at the moment he does not read my blog unless I open it for him!

Down to the wire - finish

Well this finish was really down to the last possible moment. Tomorrow I pack and then we have Anna and Mark's wedding on Saturday and then off camping on Sunday. So today i managed to finish the last five Christmas presents. Yes everyone pretty much got the same thing.

All this year when I have been away I have taken my stitching and stitched the names. Then over the last few weeks I have been sewing them into Zip purses etc. I am now practicing making little boxed zip pouches and love them. Easy to make and they look good finished. I found the tutorial here.

A gorgeous break in Rarotonga

Woo hoo, A holiday with no kids for 11 days. Bliss, relaxing and warm! BTW it was an early 20th wedding anniversary present to ourselves....
